WCH: NC Medicaid and Health Choice Outreach

What is NC Medicaid/Health Choice (CHIP) Outreach?

NC Medicaid and Health Choice (the Children’s Health Insurance Program) are publicly funded children's health insurance programs open to North Carolina residents who meet income, age, and immigration guidelines. Your child may qualify for healthcare coverage through Medicaid or Health Choice, NC’s CHIP program -- both offer free or low-cost health insurance for children and teens. For more information on wellness visits, and treatment services, click here.

To meet outreach goals, our staff work with community and faith-based organizations across the State to:

  • Partner with local family-centered activities: health fairs, school sports/events, community-ethnic festivals.
  • Distribute materials to families by ordering available materials at no cost or downloading copies of PDFs provided.
  • Partner with local minority media outlets to extend the reach of critical enrollment and reenrollment messages as needed.

Who is eligible for NC Medicaid/Health Choice?

NC Medicaid/Health Choice offer different ways that may help pay for some or all of the cost of health care. Each program helps families with certain health needs based on family size, income and resource limits. Visit the NC Medicaid and Health Choice website to get started.

Your county Division of Social Services (DSS) caseworker will help determine if you are eligible for NC Medicaid or Health Choice. Eligibility depends on your child’s age, family size, income and resources. Visit the NC Medicaid and Health Choice website to learn about eligibility.
